Waumba Land

resources for parents of infants - pre-k

What is Waumba Land?

Waumba Land is our Sunday morning environment created especially for your infants through preschool-aged children. It is clean and safe and staffed with caring volunteers who will get to know you and your child by name. We can’t wait to meet you!

We believe in an active, hands-on approach to learning with preschool children. So, you can plan on a lot of jumping, singing, dancing, and laughter in every experience. Be on the lookout for fun crafts and big games.

Our desire in Waumba Land is to partner with you for the spiritual growth of your child. We want every child to know

  • God made them
  • God loves them
  • Jesus wants to be their friend forever

Frequently Asked Questions:

How old does my baby need to be?

We are equipped to care for your sweet bundle as early as 6 weeks old.

What time do I need to arrive?

Classes are open 15-20 minutes prior to each service:

For 8:30 am, classes open at 8:10 am

For 10:00 am, classes open at 9:45 am

For 11:30 am, classes open at 11:15 am

We GREATLY encourage parents to come early to make sure that your child is able to be in their same class!

What if we are late?

If you arrive past the close of check in, we will do our best to get your child connected in their assigned small group but they might need to attend a different class due to capacity.

For security purposes we do not allow parents to utilize self check in stations while children are walking to or from Large Group. Large Group begins at 9:40 am and 11:10 am.

For the consideration of the classroom dynamic we ask that parents do their best to arrive within the check in times listed above.

What are the stickers all about?

Each time you check in, your child’s name tag will print as well as a parent sticker. The parent sticker will have 3 characters on it that correspond with your child(ren). Be sure to keep these and present them to their Small Group Leader when you pick them up. We check tags every Sunday at dismissal, even if we know your family!

If it is your family’s first visit, your child will get a VIP sticker. Be sure to take them to the red tent just outside the main entrance when you leave and turn the sticker in for a gift!

What do I need to bring?

If your child is still in diapers or bottle feeding, please bring a bag with these items labeled with your child’s name. If your child will be bringing their own snack, make sure it is labeled and notify your child’s Small Group Leader of any allergies. Please keep all toys safe by leaving them at home.

Who will be caring for my child?

Your child will be placed in an age appropriate small group with carefully trained and background checked Small Group Leaders. By attending the same hour each week your child will make friends and have the same Small Group Leaders and group of children in their room.

How many kids are in each classroom?

We have child to volunteer ratios and maximum capacities that we keep for the safety of each age group. We will close a room when it reached maximum capacity. Ratios vary from 3:1 to 5:1 and capacities range from 9 in our babies room to 18 in our Pre K rooms.

What do you teach?

Everything we teach in Waumba Land are centered on 3 key truths; God made me, God loves me and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

What is Large Group?

Waumba Land Large Group time happens in the Clubhouse each service hour. It’s a time for kids ages one and up, to sing, dance, and listen to our Bible story of the day.

What happens in the classrooms?

We have fun, engaging, age appropriate activities for each age group. These activities and/or games help us relate the Bible story to them in a super fun and practical way to our toddlers and preschoolers.

Is Waumba Land clean?

Yes! We know that germs are everywhere and we do our best to keep our littlest friends from sharing them. We sanitize the toys in between each service hour and everything in the environment is professionally cleaned each week.

Do you have a nursing mother’s room?

Unfortunately we do not at this time. You are, however, welcome to come back to room 100 in Waumba Land and nurse your baby there. Just let the Kids Check In team in the foyer know and they’ll escort you back.

If you are a parent of a child with special needs, we would love to meet you! Email us so we can set up a time to talk about your child and how we can best serve them.
