UpStreet

resources for parents of kindergarten - 5th grade

What is UpStreet?

UpStreet is a safe, fun and engaging environment staffed with caring volunteers who will get to know you and your child by name.

In UpStreet, we believe the Bible should never be boring, worship can be really fun, and good leaders always care. The focus is our small group environment. We want kids to see how God's Word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to him, and to build friendships that will last.

In UpStreet, we want every child to know three things:

  • I need to make the wise choice
  • I can trust God no matter what
  • I should treat others the way I want to be treated

Frequently Asked Questions:

What time do I need to arrive?

Classes are open 15-20 minutes prior to each service:

For 8:30 am, classes open at 8:10 am

For 10:00 am, classes open at 9:45 am

For 11:30 am, classes open at 11:15 am

We GREATLY encourage parents to come early to make sure that your child is able to be in their same Small Group!

What if we are late?

If you arrive past the close of check in, we will do our best to get your child connected in their assigned small group but they might need to attend a different class due to capacity.

For security purposes we do not allow parents to utilize self check in stations while children are walking to or from Large Group. Large Group begins at 9:40 am and 11:10 am.

For the consideration of the classroom dynamic we ask that parents do their best to arrive within the check in times listed above.

How many kids are in each classroom?

Each classroom can hold 4-6 small groups. The ideal size for a small group is 8 kids and 2 Small Group Leaders. This ensures that groups are a small enough size where conversation can happen and friendships can grow.

What do you teach?

Everything we teach in UpStreet is centered around 3 key truths; I need to make the wise choice, I can trust God no matter what, and I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

What happens in Large Group?

It’s only the best show of the week! All elementary aged kids travel down the UpStreet hall to the Warehouse where they hang out with their small group. During Large Group, kids sing, play a crazy fun game and watch a Bible story.

What is a small group?

Small Groups are where the friendships happen. An ideal small group has 2 leaders (adult and/or student) and about 8 kiddos. Small groups stay together the whole hour and their leaders commit to the group for the whole year (beginning August, when school starts). There is fun, activities and games, and conversation about the Bible story of the morning and how it relates to their lives.

What is Leadership Room?

Leadership Room is a safe and fun hangout for elementary aged kids whose parents serve at Northpoint. While Leadership Room is a lot of fun, it is not designed to take the place of being involved in a small group in UpStreet.

My child has questions about Jesus, God, the Bible. How do I answer him/her?

We have just the place for you! JumpStart is a 15 minute presentation where both you and your UpStreeter will learn what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

At JumpStart, we’ll give the parents some homework. Don’t worry! It’s a simple guide on how to begin having conversations about faith at home.

For dates and times, please visit the JumpStart page.

My child is interested in baptism. What is your process?

We are so excited with you! First, be sure that you and your child have attended JumpStart. Then, head over to the Baptism page for date and time of our next baptism. Also on that page will be a form to fill out for your child. Once we have the form, we’ll set up a time to interview your kiddo, usually while they’re in UpStreet.
